Abstract
The calculation of labor-intensiveness of manufacturing a brand new product is rather difficult
because of a lack of complete technical documentation. In this case, labor-intensiveness estimation
methods are used. An aggregative labor-intensiveness calculation on the basis of the component
qualimetric analysis is one of such methods. A possibility of using the above qualimetric method to
estimate labor-intensiveness of manufacturing new products in small-scale and single-part
production is validated based on the analysis of the geometric shape complexity as well as of the
weight, material, surface roughness, and the structure and characteristics of technological operations
of such parts as shafts. A preliminary calculation of the relationship between the estimated labor-
intensiveness by engineering standards and the labor-intensiveness calculated by the qualimetric
approach showed a discrepancy of 1,12 times.
