Abstract

Operational characteristics of parts in many respects depend on properties of surfaces formed in

the course of machining. To improve the properties of a part surface various methods of machining

are used. One of prospective ways of improving surface properties of parts is the application of

antifriction coatings together with surface and plastic deformation of the surface layer. The

implementation of such a combined scheme of part machining by turning and rolling makes it

possible to apply an antifriction coating on a part, to remove oxide films and other pollution of the

surface and to increase machining performance. As a result of the work done a mathematical model

describing the process of coating formation on a juvenile surface in combined machining by turning

and rolling which can be used for both high-quality research of this process and quantitative

calculation of the formed surface layer parameters was developed.
