Abstract

The article describes an algorithm of the finite element analysis of parts made of composite

materials. The property of finite element disjunction provides a possibility of constructing

appropriate design algorithms. The first step is the approximation of the unknown function for each

finite element. Then an array of extended data representing the geometric shape and material of the

computational domain is generated. After that an appropriate software procedure performs the

binding of finite elements. Further an original problem of continuum mechanics in the variational

formulation is solved. The function continuity over the entire domain is provided by the equality of

interpolating functions at the boundary between the elements. The functional for each finite element

is calculated, a total functional is found and its minimization is performed based on the list of

unknown nodal temperature values. The total function minimization results in a system of linear

algebraic equations whose solution leads to the determination of unknown values of the target

function in the nodes. The proposed approach is implemented by the Maple computational

mathematics system.
