Abstract
The paper describes the sequence of manufacturing large-sized products of geokhod and the
mechanism of forming allowances for machining ready-assembled bodies. The paper shows that the
allowance value depends on the dimensions of the body component workpieces produced by
thermal cutting. It is found that the most significant component of the allowance is the deviation of
the shape and the location of the machined surface formed at the body assembly stage. The paper
contains a calculation scheme and a few equations. The solution of these equations allows setting
the amount of deviation and considering it as a part of the machining allowance. The paper contains
the calculation of variances for the geokhod rotor product which is currently in pilot production.
The expressions obtained show that the amount of displacement and structural dimensions of the
workpiece surface are interrelated.
