Abstract
The article deals with the conditions of contact interaction of the tool with a cylindrical
workpiece for cutters with straight and radius edges. Such parameters as the geometry in the static
coordinate system, the working length of the cutting edge and the cut layer cross-section are
studied. Based on the previously obtained data the main features of straight cutters are described.
Graphic charts of the considered parameters under the same processing conditions are shown. On
the basis of theoretical data obtained recommendations on the choice of cutting tools are given.
