TWO-PALLET MODELS OF A HEAVY ROTARY-MOVABLE TABLE

Abstract

Two design pallet models, namely, a model of piecewise-constant thickness and a model of

constant thickness within preset geometrical external dimensions are discussed. When optimizing

pallets,

two ways of changing the design variables were studied:

a

) constant thickness for a single

finite element,

b

) constant thickness for a group of finite elements: Group 1 includes plate finite

elements (FE) in the xz and yz planes, group 2 covers plate FEs in the xy plane, group 3 includes

rod FEs.

It is shown that both pallet models are almost identical in weight. The model of constant

thickness within preset geometrical external sizes is recommended for practical application.
