The first results of the automotive driver training programme introduction in the
Russian Federation

In the Russian Federation there have been introduced 28 Pilot Programmes that provide new driver’s category
and subcategory. The Module Programme organization let optimize the training period. The total slight increase of the
training hours to learn the basic driving principles, repass examination on the basic disciplines allows to reduce the
training period considerably (by two times in fact) for the people who have already got some driving category. 2015
first half year period statistics of the road accidents states that the amount of the accidents decreased, practically, as a
whole. It should be noted that in this country the inadequate street-and-road system, the traffic regulations inobserv-
ance, the traffic growth, the low level drivers training are the main factors that cause a considerable number of road
accidents followed with serious consequences. The investigated parametres show that, in accordance with the intro-
duced Programmes, the Russian Federation automotive training centers are able to train the students, provide addi-
tional training courses, improve the driver’s qualification.
