Abstract
An influence of the tool vibration with ultrasonic frequency on the friction forces under different
conditions and modes of surface plastic deformation was investigated. Experiments were performed
with the special bedstead consisting of the 1K62 turning machine, UZG3-4 ultrasonic generator
with the magnetostrictive convertor, and apparatus for loading, removal and registration of the
signal. Samples were produced from the SHX15SG steel. The ultrasonic tool was equipped with
deformer from the VK8 hard metal. It was determined that loading ultrasonic vibrations on the
deformer under surface plastic deformation significantly decreases the friction forces in the
conditions of both oiling and dry friction. Variation of the treatment modes leads to alteration of the
friction force. Increase of the amplitude of the tool vibration results in decrease of the friction force
whereas the static load increase leads to grows of the friction force. The influence of the slip
velocity on the friction force is ambiguous.
