STUDY OF AN ELECTROMAGNETIC INDUCTION FURNACE WITH A U-SHAPED

MAGNETIC CIRCUIT

Abstract

The results of theoretical and experimental study of electrical and thermal parameters of an

electromagnetic induction melting crucible furnace with a curved U-shaped magnetic circuit and a

frequency of 50 Hz are presented. Based on these results a furnace was made which induces a

horizontal magnetic flux between the two poles of the magnetic circuit acting on the crucible. A

possibility of rapid melting of simulina and brass in the laboratory furnace and the need for cooling

an electric coil is shown. The results obtained will help to create a method for the design and

calculation of basic electrical, magnetic and thermal properties of electromagnetic furnaces of

various sizes.
