Abstract

An analysis of geometric parameters of the femoral head sphere surface of the insert (acetabular

cup) and the head of a ceramic mating pair of a hip joint implant was carried out in accordance with

the requirements of GOST R ISO 7206-2-2005.The insert and head cones were measured by the

three-coordinate measuring machine CARL ZEISS CONTURA G2 CALIPSO 6.0. Devices for

measuring insert and head geometric parameters of the ceramic mating pair of the hip joint implant

were designed and manufactured. Devices help to measure geometric parameters of the insert and

head cones. It also provides a possibility for a measuring machine probe to come into contact with

each point of the measured spherical insert surface and the head for various dimension-types of

spherical insert and head radii and also for the head and insert cone diameters. Measurements are

carried out at one setting of the insert and head in an appropriate device, which makes it possible to

evaluate the position of the sphere center relative to the cone axis.
