Abstract
This article presents an analysis of the numerical calculations of screw conveyors. Calculation
data is compared with the technical features set forth in the passports of these conveyors.
Discordance between calculations and passports values is identified by the analysis of the results.
Formulas that can be used to calculate the parameters of screw conveyors, depending on the given
performance, are presented to identify the reasons of this discordance. New obtained numerical
parameter values when plugging in the formula of performance led to the values specified in
passports. Similar calculations for the engineering capacity for a variety of formulas that give quite
comparable with each other values are presented. Comparison of the numerical performance,
capacity and other values (rate of the screw rotation, linear load, driving force) points at the
possibility of the use of new calculation formulas without loss of the calculation accuracy.
