Abstract

In this paper we study the structural changes in the cast iron associated with an increase in the

copper content up to 14.7 wt. %. The results of the study of copper-containing particles of various

sizes by optical microscopy and by scanning and transmission electron microscopy submitted in

paper. In the course of the work carried out analysis of the shape, size and composition of the

particles, their classification, as well as the scheme of allocation of copper-based particles in the

structure of cast iron. Four types of copper-based inclusions found. These inclusions are allocate in

a wide range of sizes from 20 nm to 240 microns. The paper describes the conditions of formation

and the differences between all four types of particles.
