Marksa, Novosibirsk, 630073, Russian Federation Abstract The paper discusses issues related to the study of effective processes of hardening of the surface layers of parts. The analysis of the most common hardening processes in industry is presented. The results of modeling and comparative analysis of the thermal capabilities of high-energy heating by HFC and hardening by grinding are presented. In addition, calculations have been made to identify the approximate limits of the change in the inductor speed for the least studied hardening regimes with specific heating power from 100 to 300 MW/m 2 . Keywords hardening, surface layer, grinding, high-energy heating by HFC, thermal cycle, modeling of thermal phenomena
